The first photobook of a promising Japanese photographer.
Sana Kohmoto was born in Hiroshima in 1990. Currently she works in Tokyo.
She was selected as a finalist in the Japanese photography competition "1_WALL". She is one of the young photographers active in Japan.
Her identity is the production process.
She uses a film camera. She intuitively releases the shutter and collecting various images, enter the darkroom and carefully check the negatives. I print only the images that inspired me at that moment. She repeats this task for a month, three months, and sometimes a year.
She says, "I can only think slowly."
She also says, " By developing and printing, I understand the passage of time."
There is a "premonition of beauty" in her photographs.
Modern society disseminate "clear concept" and "impact image". But her picture is the exact opposite.
Ambiguity, unclear value, meaningless image ...
That is why when standing in front of her photographs, the viewer seeks free beauty with their own eyes.
Takahiro Murahashi designed the photobook. The delicate color of film photographs was reproduced by high-precision printing. Gross Ink was layered on finely paper. It's like a photographic paper print.
This picture will help you dive deep inside your mind.
